Farhad has been working on their degree for a while but does not really know what they are going to do in their career. They are going to start with the mentorship module to build strong mentor relationships and learn more about career options.
Miya is worried about how people are treating each other in their lab, but doesn’t know who to talk to first, or even how to get the conversation started. Every time they try, they feel like they make the situation worse and their supervisor has told them to figure it out. Miya is going to start with the module on navigating difficult conversations.
Julie has a complicated project with lots of moving pieces. Every day, they feel like they are working hard but not really moving forward. They are going to start with the project management module to feel like they have a better handle on what they are doing each day.
Sam came from a different university and is doing graduate school in a fairly different area than their undergraduate degree. They want to do the strategic learning module first, to learn as effectively as possible in this new field.
Miguel has been struggling and feels stressed all the time. They are not sure if this is just a normal amount of stress for graduate studies or if something is wrong. Either way, they want to learn some strategies so they can address how they are feeling. They are going to start with the academic resilience module.
We recommend you find a comfortable place to work and learn. Make sure you are nourished and hydrated; maybe grab a glass of water to put next to you. Minimize distractions: turn your phone off (or put it on silent) and turn off notifications on your computer. That said, it’s okay to hit pause as you need to along the way.
Let’s begin!
